Will my comments be public?
Our role at Commonplace is to power decision makers to engage communities and understand their preferences, priorities, hopes and fears. In order to enable a collaborative and productive discussion about the future of places, we strive to make all conversations transparent.
On the vast majority of Commonplaces, all responses will be made visible to the public after they have been confirmed and moderated. However, identifying information such as names, email addresses or demographic information will not normally appear on the public website.
There are some exceptions - for example, it is a statutory requirement to publish names and addresses in planning application responses, but email addresses and demographic information will remain hidden.
If you would like to see what other people have said before adding your response, follow the guidance here.
Where you don't see public comments, it may be that:
- Nobody has yet responded to the engagement or consultation
- This is a private Commonplace that works on an invitation-only basis, perhaps for residents of a housing estate, for example
- This Commonplace is collecting sensitive information that is not suitable for public display
- This Commonplace has been set up to only display other responses once you have submitted your own response
